Radiograffiti presents:

RGW-001
Stagediver-”No Magic Here: Various Livesets ’07-’10″

http://radiograffiti.org/Stagediver-No_Magic_Here.torrent

Almost four hours of slamming Amigacore from your good friend (who never returns phone calls) in Milwaukee, WI. Some of these sets have been making the rounds through file trade for a while but are now available direct as a half-assed torrent file for your listening pleasure (?). Included are a few random pics taken on buses, in Chicago, in Milwaukee, nothing special. What you really want here is the music and holy christ does it deliver.

The recordings themselves are from several different sources so things are not perfect, but volumes are generally continuous. For the trainspotters: much of the material presented was played as a one-off performance or had been lost in various hard drive crashes. Some of you might even recognize early versions of songs later released on vinyl in a much different form.

To anyone who cares enough: you can donate to Radiograffiti server costs/pick up a Stagediver 7″ or rage at the shows if you’re feeling generous. Spread the word, seed, listen and enjoy.

Total Playing Time: 3:56:31

Too timid to download? Samples can be heard at the Stagediver Soundcloud profile.

—————————————————————————–

Here’s a first look at Dispyz’s new/old tune “Datarunner”. The shots were taken during gameplay of the new A1200 game “Tracker Hero”, which can be downloaded as a beta here. It features the likes of GOTO80, Syphus, Neuroflip + others and from what we understand you can add your own .MOD (or MOD. ?) files to use in the game. Fucking 1337. You can also build your own interface to use a PS2 guitar on the Amiga. Even fucking 13373r!

Check it out, download it, remix Datarunner etc.

So there will be a hands-on tracker/amiga hardware discussion in Chicago this upcoming Thursday featuring both Protman and Stagediver at the latest Dorkbot International in Chicago. How this will go or what exactly will be discussed has yet to be determined. This has great potential to go down in flames/be a really cool and informative discussion. If you are in the area come on down…it’s free and there’s beer and pizza.

Here’s some info from their site:

************
http://dorkbotchicago.blogspot.com/

WTF:

What is a “dorkbot”?! The idea of the international dorkbot network is “people doing strange things with electricity” and meeting in informal, friendly environments to discuss their projects. These projects could include hardware hacks, New Media Art projects, creative code, circuit bent musical instruments or wild DIY garage science!

Joe Hahn

Joe Hahn & Tyler St Clair @ dorkbot Chicago on September 24 2009!

Joe Hahn aka Protman is a programmer and computer music artist based in Chicago. Primarily composing with software inspired by late 80s mod trackers like Impulse Tracker, Schism Tracker, and Renoise, he also implements the use of game controllers and other input devices with PureData to translate them into midi controllers and custom sequencers. Joe is also a proponent and often host of monthly computer music battles called “Iron Chef of Music” where contenders locally and worldwide via telecommute simultaneously spend two hours creating a new piece of music out of a single audio sample. After two hours there is an exhibition and discussion of all the track submissions where cheffers can learn about software and technique from one another. Joe is also working to open a museum and workshop in Chicago with a focus on diy/circuit-bent music hardware and software.

TSC

The Milwaukee, WI native Tyler St Clair (Stagediver/Dispyz) has been an avid user and abuser of trailing-edge computer technology since 1995. During the first half of 2009 he released two lo-fi, 7″ vinyls on the Radiograffiti music imprint, which were written and recorded on the Amiga line of computers using several well-known trackers such as MED, and OctaMED.

Throughout the years though he has been known to play shows/eliminate boredom using modified and circuit-bent gear including (but not limited to) a VIC-20 & MC-505. He also began work on several Atari 2600 sample playback utilities back in 2003 and has even been seen as a supporter of the UK hacking scene, evidenced by musical submissions to the Hackervoice UK podcast.

He also has the natural ability to see through clothing.

Stagediver in Pittsburgh – 6.13.09
The Rules
The rules for this competition are the same as those in the previous events (and like before, these rules are likely to be broken by nearly everyone). This battle is being fought to see who can bring the crowd to a fevered frenzy. As a combatant, you can only use a laptop or desktop computer. No gear, no turntables, no cd mixers, and no traditional instruments are permitted. You just need to be able to plug into the RCA input jacks on a standard mixer. You may prepare any amount of material ahead of time and use any software you want, although you are encouraged to improvise or create material on the fly. Using material from other artists is grounds for removal (this rule is potentially misleading since you can use samples). Like the previous battles, this is not a Traktor, mashup, or DJ competition: make your own shit. This battle is divided into 3 rounds: the opening round, the semi-final round, and the final round. No matter how many combatants sign-up, everyone who enters gets up to 10 minutes to play in the opening round. There will be 2 tables setup: while the person before you is playing, you can start setting up on the free table. As soon as the person in front of you is done, you’re on the clock. At the end of the opening round, the judges will vote and the top 4 combatants will move on to the semi-final round where they will have another 10 minutes to annihilate their competitors. At the completion of the semi-round, the top 2 move on to the final round and get a final 10 minute shot before one triumphant champion is declared.

Two pretty awesome discoveries have been made here in the Radiograffiti camp regarding both an MC-505 and the Amiga line of computers. Info isn’t being released *just* yet, but when it is (tutorials are currently being written) you will be able to find it over at Treble Death System. If you have an MC-505, keep it. If not, buy one now before they cost a fortune. Consider that to be your heads-up.

In the meantime here are a few pics to drum up some interest:
